Water at Doorstep

water-at-doorstepMuslim Vasti hamlet, once a village without water, now has each and every household connected through new hand pump with regular safe drinking water available. Today women of the village do not spend hours in bringing water from the distant hand pump. Certainly support and guidance from WaterAid and Dharti helped the villagers to enjoy this bliss.

The contribution received from community is also as high as Rs 7,000 in the village. To distribute water from hand pump to each household, every household pays Rs 20 per month for maintenance and operation in advance.

Success of hand pump has motivated people of Muslim Vasti immensely; they are collecting the Operations and Maintenance Cost regularly. The entire process was done by the villagers themselves, right starting from selecting the spot to collecting the entire expense as well as institutionalising the User Group.
