About Us

about-us Dharti's major work is making community aware of its rights. A view of community meeting underway

Dharti was founded in 1996 in Morena district of Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. Ever since its inception, Dharti is working in favour of poor, marginalised, vulnerable and deprived sections of the society in remote, ravine and dacoit-affected areas of Chambal region.

In its journey, Dharti has come across over 20,000 households. The present work is spread over 165 villages in 80 gram panchayats of three blocks of Morena district.

Dharti provides common platform to community groups so as to enable them to lead their lives independently. It primarily works in campaign mode with support of 65 community based and women institutions promoted by it.

Social analysis of the area reveals that feudal system, caste discrimination, gender discrimination, untouchability, illiteracy, poverty, migration, natural calamities, drought, etc., are major obstacles in the growth of the region. These factors are adversely affecting lives of poor and socially excluded community groups, especially women and children groups.
